Green tariff verification
For electricity suppliers with UK operations, we can review your applications to the Green Energy Supply Certification Scheme.
This independent scheme verifies the claims made by energy suppliers about their green energy tariffs. The scheme awards a ‘Green Energy Certified’ label to products that deliver a real, measurable environmental difference.
The label is designed to give energy purchasers confidence that they are buying electricity that comes from a renewable source and that the energy supplier is delivering environmental benefits beyond their existing regulatory obligations.
The scheme is supported by Ofgem, the regulator of gas and electricity markets in the UK. To be successful, applications to the scheme have to meet criteria set out in Ofgem’s Green Supply Guidelines.
We have already reviewed and recommended changes to the applications to the scheme made by npower, EDF Energy and Scottish Power. All three applications were successful and the companies are now able to use the ‘Green Energy Certified’ label to promote the tariffs they put forward for certification.
