npower report assured using latest AA1000 Assurance Standard

Guided by the new AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA100AS) released late last year, Two Tomorrows has provided independent assurance for the 2008 corporate responsibility report released by UK energy company RWE npower.
The web-based report describes how the company, which serves around 6.6m customers and produces more than 10 per cent of the electricity used in England and Wales, is responding to the challenge of delivering affordable and reliable energy to its customers with the least impact on the environment. It also describes its achievements in 2008, and the targets it has set for 2009 and beyond.
Through our assurance work, we examined the report against the three core principles of inclusivity, materiality and responsiveness that are enshrined in AA1000AS (2008).

Key facts from the RWE npower 2008 report include:
- RWE npower plans to invest more than £1bn each year over the next 10 years to deliver secure, cleaner, affordable energy.
