First Group praised for assurance

Two Tomorrows client First Group has been singled out for praise in a new report on corporate sustainability and carbon assurance.

The report from Carbon Smart examines the assurance statements published with the sustainability reports of all companies in the FTSE350. It finds that the vast majority of the carbon and environmental claims made by FTSE350 companies lack credibility and verification because only 75 companies publish assurance to verify or back-up the sustainability data they publish. Also, only 62 of assurance assignments are carried out independently and based on any recognised assurance standard.

The report identifies the leaders in report and carbon assurance - including First Group, whose report has been independently assured by Two Tomorrows since 2002.
