EDF Energy report assured using latest AA1000AS

Electricity pylonsGuided by the AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA100AS) released late last year, Two Tomorrows has provided independent assurance of the 2008 sustainability performance report released by UK electricity company EDF Energy.

To carry out our assurance, we examined the report against the three core principles – inclusivity, materiality and responsiveness – that are enshrined in AA1000AS (2008). We also verified the reliability of performance data and claims. We focused in particular on EDF Energy’s performance and reporting related to climate change, safety and pricing.

We have now assured every EDF Energy sustainability report since 2006.

In 2008, EDF Energy launched its social commitments, following on from its climate commitments, launched in 2007. The company states that, taken together, these commitments “represent the biggest package of sustainability initiatives launched by any major UK energy company”. The report details progress made on its commitments, as well as its wider impacts and how it integrates environmental and social issues into core decision making.

Two Tomorrows is the global leader in AA1000AS assurance work according to figures from Corporate Register, the independent directory of CSR resources.
