Assurance for pioneering Italian venture
Published on: Jul 29, 2009
Two Tomorrows has assured the first sustainability report by the Italian organisation that is redeveloping large parts of Milan to create two huge international exhibition centres.
The three companies that make up the Milan Exhibition System (Fondazione Fiera Milano, Sviluppo Sistema Fiera, and Gruppo Fiera Milano) have issued their first sustainability reports and also integrated them in a combined report.
This combined report has been assured by Two Tomorrows in accordance with the AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS). In carrying out the assurance, we evaluated the report against the three key AA1000AS principles of inclusivity, materiality and responsiveness.
We found that the report meets the B+ level under the Global Reporting Initiative’s sustainability reporting guidelines.
The report describes how the Milan Exhibition System works with key stakeholders such as employees, customers, suppliers, residents, local and national government. It builds on a track record of social reports previously produced by Fondazione Fiera Milano, demonstrating a standing commitment to transparency and accountability.
Highlights of the report include:
- an account of Milan Exhibition System’s use of the BS 8901 international standard for the sustainable management of events (Milan Exhibition System is the first international exhibition company that has used this standard)
- goals and objectives for responsible change and sustainability
- charts showing sustainability performance by the three partner organisations.
