Media and ICT industry forum examining impacts of digital media

Two Tomorrows has convened a collaborative programme across media and ICT companies to explore the sustainability impacts from the rapid growth in digital media - an area about which little data exists.

The Digital Sustainability Group (DSG) was initiated following a workshop held at Guardian News and Media in 2010. The group is now developing guidance that focuses on the needs of content creators and business planners within organisations, helping them understand how their decisions affect the environmental impact of digital media delivery. The DSG is also looking at how consumers can be educated so that they understand and can take account of the sustainability impacts of their decisions when consuming digital media.

The DSG takes a collective approach with members from across the media and ICT industries sharing insight, research and ideas. Currently the membership includes The Guardian, BBC, Pearson’s Penguin Group, Reed Elsevier, Sanoma Group, The Energy Savings Trust and The Professional Publishers Association.
