Helping global mining company develop GRI-aligned report
We have helped global mining company Rio Tinto develop its approach to social and environmental reporting.
Our work began when we reviewed and benchmarked Rio Tinto’s social and environmental review for 2003 as well as a multitude of local business unit reports. We provided detailed recommendations, including advice on how Rio Tinto could work towards adherence to the Global Reporting Initiative G3 sustainability reporting guidelines. Our recommendations were the basis of a workshop with Rio Tinto management to agree a long-term reporting strategy.
Our expertise in GRI reporting and sustainability management allowed us to advise Rio Tinto on the robustness, completeness, materiality and quality of its reporting as well as its wider sustainability performance.
We now provide ongoing strategic support to Rio Tinto on its reporting work. This includes refining the process used for determining material issues for reporting, running internal materiality validation workshops, carrying out international stakeholder engagement on the company's sustainable development report and drafting content for its integrated annual report.
