Helping Airbus UK implement new approach to CR

Airbus UK implemented a new approach to managing corporate responsibility issues with the help of Two Tomorrows.

The company first asked for our support in 2005 to help it review its CR management and communication. We started by interviewing senior staff at sites in Filton and Broughton. We then carried out benchmarking to establish Airbus UK’s position on corporate responsibility relative to its competitors and its peers within and outside the aviation sector. Based on these initial investigations, we submitted a proposal for a new CR strategy at Airbus UK. This was discussed and agreed by the company’s management committee.

One of the first steps in the new approach was for Airbus UK to set up a corporate responsibility forum chaired by the managing director. Two Tomorrows acts as secretariat to the forum. The forum oversees company-wide CR strategy as well as policies in each of Airbus UK’s impact areas. It is responsible for setting targets and tracking the progress of new initiatives. At regular intervals, the management committee reviews the plans and work of the forum.
