Environmental strategy advice for local authority
We contributed to the development of the London Borough of Ealing’s environment plan, which was part of a wider modernisation strategy.
Working in close partnership with our client, we agreed 25 sustainability criteria against which the policies that made up the plan could be tested. We also assessed how comments resulting from a public consultation on the plan might affect sustainability, and advised on changes that would protect sustainability. We carried out a further appraisal after the plan’s statutory public inquiry, and an analysis of the Borough’s special planning guidance.
In addition, we carried out a review of the clarity, relevance and utility of the policies, incorporating the views of members of the local community.
The Borough’s New Plan for the Environment was adopted in October 2004 and published with an accompanying sustainability appraisal report.
